Ideas for an outfit for a wedding in Cuba please

My freind has been invited to a wedding in Cuba, any ideas for an outfit? I sggested it include a Panama hat or is that crap? The mother of the bride is wearing a maxi dress which is a good idea if you can carry it off. Don`t think mate is too keen on that.

Just been to a wedding in Costa Rica and the main style the ladies wore was lovely flowing printed dresses. It's going to be hot... We were given fans and parasols but still ended up v.v.v. sweaty (so did the locals though) so discreet hankies for mopping brow? Lots of extra strength antiperspirant? And it may be worth thinking about hair styles - wish I'd put mine up because it turned into a frizzy mess!

Nobody wore hats, and the men all wore linen trousers and shirts. It was amazing!

Why a Panama hat? Male or female friend?

dh wore a panama hat (made a huge drama of finding one before we went), light grey linen trousers and a pink and white striped linen shirt with a panama.

Her wore the hat for the flight over, and got treated like a proper gent by the airline staff! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with mine own eyes!
