How on earth can I change a "wild animal" party into a Pokeman party???

I planned a "wild animal" themed party for my boys joint party (ages 9, 6 and 2 - though it is really for the older two). I ordered themed party bag presents from the USA (animal print beach balls, gift bags, stationary sets and stampers) which are being carried over here this month (somewhat against his will!) by my dad.

Now the boys are totally into Pokeman and want that as a theme. Please tell me there is some way I can tie the two themes together (I know nothing about Pokeman!) so that the party bags actually make sense!

I think you are right. The kids attending range in age a lot and an animal theme would suit better. I had planned to do an animal hunt with little plastic toy ones in the garden (we have a very very large garden), a tag the animal type game involving adults chasing the kids (lots of dads attending), and a toss the animal in the hoop kind of game.

They did pick the theme at the time.

I sympathise!

My dd was 4 last week - she is my eldest so I am a complete newby and was taken in twice in one birthday.

First she wanted a Snow White party so I ordered a load of Snow white crap from UK and spent time sourcing a fabulous Snow White costume 2nd hand from Ebay and getting it sent over here.

Then she wanted a pirate party. So I ordered a load of pirate crap - bunting, flags, eye patches, the lot.

Then the week before her birthday she confided that she was really looking forward to her fancy dress party.

Next year I shall be wise and start party planning about 45 minutes before the party is due to start.

just buy a few pokemon paper plates and mix them in with the animals.
