We always do a Car Boot Sale with ours which brings in LOTS of non-school people.
We use school field but be prepared to deal with the hard-core boot seller little old ladies who will be clamouring to get in as soon as you get there and not in an hour and a half when the thing actually starts

Craft stalls in hall usually work well too

what about a bouncy castle/activity for the kids?

we let our P7's run a stall to raise some money too

do you sell the kids art work? our school has an art teacher who picks some stuff and frames it up (cheaply) grannies etc cannot resist that kind of thing!!

a local band to play some music in return for their promotion/refreshments?

face painting always a winner and money spinner if they do it sensibly and not spend half hour on every child!

Agree with selling the dc's artwork even hardened parents find it difficult to resist. Other real easy money maker are the glitter / pink / blue hairspray and the tattoo/transfers, neither sit well with the boden mums understandably but are quick and easy and the dc's love them.

We invite the fire brigade along with a nice shiny engine that they let all the little pre-schoolers clamber over!

Also wellie wanging.

Balls in the bog (throw football into an old toilet to win) dead classy we are

Hair wraps/plaits.
