40th Birthday celebrations...any ideas

Hi just wondering what things anyone did / is planning to do for their 40th? Did you have a party, go away, etc...I am torn between a romantic break with DH or a big party for everyone followed by a slightly less fancy holiday with DH and DD (3)

I'm 32 but when I am 40, I won't be having a party. Paris for me and DH it will be! If you're not the sort of person who likes parties, then I'd go away but if you do like to party, then have a big party like you said and then go away with DH and DD to somewhere less fancy.

It was me last year. I did the big party thing - it was lovely to have a get -together for family and friends. Felt a bit disppointed by one or two close ones who couldn't make it; it's always hard to get EVERYONE there.
I felt as though I'd had a good celebration, but for the next big occasion, will definitely go for a luxury weekend away for me, DH and children.

P.S Why not set yourself a budget and then see what your options are? You could do a big party fairly reasonably if you do the catering and get to have a weekend away.
