9 yo's film party

DS1 has been discussing his birthday, after lots of ideas that are just too expensive or too darn difficult, he thinks he'd like some friends over to watch a DVD and have Pizza for tea. I thought I could do bags of pick n mix type sweets and/or popcorn for while they're watching the film and maybe order in Pizza.

What do you think?

-Will 9 yo boys think this is a "boring" party?
-How many would you want in your house?
-His birthday's mid March, what will be the "in" film on DVD?
-How much longer than the film would you make the party, time wise?
-Any other/better ideas?

We did this when ds1 was 8 or 9. Did similar to you - but made burgers rather than pizza, and stopped the film half way to eat them.

I showed an Indiana Jones film and did pop corn and fizzy drink (the highlight for ds1!) and a pick and mix. The boys needed space to join in the battle scenes!

Think my party went on too long as ended up with hyped up boys 20 mins before collection time (to much fizzy drink!) but the children enjoyed it.
