I'm having my 40th birthday party at home next weekend. It's an afternoon party with around 20 adults and 10 children ranging from 18 months to 9 years. Was planning on having downstairs toy-free apart from the Ds's play kitchen which is in our kitchen and letting the 4-9 year olds play upstairs in Ds's room and also thought we'd have a DVD running in our bedroom. Both rooms need redecorating & recarpeting so I'm not worried about juice being spilled etc.
Downstairs I'm pretty certain that everyone will be happy just chatting but I keep wondering if we should have some games or activities either for the adults or en famille. I don't want to force people to play charades and with limited space and too many people that's not an option anyway but I'd like the party to be memorable and fun and wondered if there was some kind of activity which people could dip in and out of? I'm just not sure what though? A treasure hunt or other competition? An arts & crafts activity? Help!
