Ds1 will be 9 in September. He only wants to invite a handful of friends - probably no more than 8 children in total. He wants to do something special and partyish, so not going to the cinema or bowling or such thing, but we can't think of anything.

Any suggestions?

What about a party at home? Pick a theme eg Space, Movies. Get some cool decorations (I find Partybox.co.uk good), then Google for ideas for games, crafts, invitations etc.

DS1 who's going to be 10 is taking 2 friends to pizza hut, then a horrible histories play and then a sleepover. Easy cos he only has 2 really good friends!! And am farming DD and DS2 out for the night

Depends how much you want to spend but what about Mad Science.

My DD is having one of these in a few weeks time and we have had them to our school. Lots of wacky science experiments, rocket launches and things that go bang.

Inspiration hit this weekend! Well, more like it slapped us in the face like a wet fish:

Yes, we're having the dreaded sleepover party.

But with a difference:

We'll pitch our family tent in the garden, and they can sleep in there!

Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
