OK, I need a party game for 5yo that's loud, energetic and fun....

had one for dd1's 5th party and it was a winner (kills loads of time too)

musical statues but they jump up and down on pieces of bubble wrap popping the bubbles

Musical Mats - like musical chairs but use pieces of newspaper.

Popping balloons tied to ankles - winner is last one with an unpopped balloon.

Beans. You shout:

Jumping beans, and they jump.
Runner beans, they run.
Baked beans, they curl up in a ball.
Broad beans, stretch out wide.
Green beans, stretch up tall.
French beans, they shout ooo la la.

Great fun!

Pinata great too. Specially if boys can whollop them with lightsabres/swords.

'Port, starboard' is popular with my dd - name each end of the room something relevant to child eg school, shops, playground and then when you shout out 'shops' they all have to run to that end of the room and so on - you can also add in other actions eg have a wash, pick daisies - whatever you want really.

tie long newspaper 'tail' to everyone with string round waist (loose!)

then everyone has to run round and try to jump on the tails and pull them off. last one with a tail is the winner.

kids loved this at ds's party

havent got a name for it but...
you put a different coloured piece of paper in each corner of room. you have a bag/box with beanbags/scarves of matching colours. children have to dance around to music, when music stops they run to a corner. you pull out a beanbag/scarf and all the children in that corner are out. repeat until you have a winner, reward with sweets!
