When to call it a day on the old party front ?

My DD will be 9 this year, she's had a party every year with friends, quite a lot spent on them.
DD2 will be 7. It is a shame but I don't think we can really afford a party for both so would it be ok to put on an at home party for DD2 and just take 2 of DD1's friends for a pizza ?

I think pizza's fine for 9 year old treat. In our household the older the child is the fewer guests they have.

my 5 year old had a softplay party this year as did most of the kids in his class
next year the class size will be considerably more and I've already decided it will be 6 friends going to the cinema or coming here for pizza
