Our 6 yods is due to have his party in June but either wants well expensive naff entertainer that does the rounds here or to go go karting, which he is too young for. Has anyone got any ideas of something that would be different? He did have the idea of a dinosaur party but the only one I could find was in New York!!!

softplay? football? swimming?

Did think about swimming but I guess that means all my flabby bits, along with everyone elses, would be hanging out.

Mad Science parties are quite good.

DS2 is having a football party - but for the price I'm paying I'm hoping for David Beckham to do the coaching.

Are you anywhere near a snow dome?

sadly we're not.

Mad science party - whats that about sounds good for me! Unfortunately I think we are the whole family in England that dont do the whole football thing. and snow dome has made me think about the dry ski slope near here.

mad science

We used them for DS1's 8th and can highly recommend, but he is very science orientated. I liked it becuase the kids didn't get over excited.

Ask at the local Council sports centre, if they do any sports parties. You might get the use of a sports hall and a couple of coaches to organise the kids and play games for an hour or so.

Actually, if its in June just get them outside and do some races/messy games. We did DS1s 7th in the garden in November and they had a great time. Jelly/flour bobbing and the like.

There is a go kart party for younger kids which I considered for DD1's 7th birthday. They have them at a leisure centre near me, but you can arrange for them to go to any suitable venue (indoors or out).
