Party on a steam train - anyone had one or been to one?

It's for DS's 5th birthday in about a month.

We're still struggling for ideas, I really don't like sports hall/bouncy castle parties enough to want to do one,and was trying to think of something a bit different. The local heritage railway does parties I know because I've seen the children on the coaches.

Any feedback on how the trip might be arranged, what entertainment to provide, etc very welcome.

My ds went to one when he was in reception. It was good (parents went and paid for themselves) Then afterwards sandwiches/party food was supplied in the cafe.

I'd give them activity sheets, like tick the things you saw and colouring in of trains etc. The other thing was there was a large platter of crisps/nibbles that the mum brought which kept the children occupied.
