Anyone got any suggestions for games etc for my 80's themed 40th birthday?

I've got some ideas from MN already which were great, but have to go and see the person who is doing the disco on Monday and wondered if anyone else had some suggestions?

One of my ideas is a breakdancing or robotic dance competition for all the 40-plus dads, which I think would be a scream, but dh isn't sharing my enthusiasm!

Moonwalking is fun

Abba singstar ?

Oh I think I remember this -

Did we talk about things like "Pin the plaster on Adam Ant" or crucifix on Madonna or something of that ilk?

In teams - create an 80s outfit, modelled by one of the team, from newspaper and/or loo roll?

And the mixed up pics of 80s stars thing?

Lyrics quiz?

I have to say there is no way in the world my dp would do a dance competition, however much I begged!

Do you think many 40yo's would want to play games?

I don't think any of my friends would, and DH definitely wouldn't.

But maybe your friends are different?

paolosgirl · 27/02/2009 20:49

Yes! I'm going for the pin the plaster on AA, and we're having an 80's quiz, so the mixed up pics of pop stars and the lyrics will be part of that.

DH (who is a 46 year old, slight fusty but nonetheless very lovely accountant) has also assured me that there is no way he will be breakdancing or pretending to be a robot. However, there may be room for negotiation after some wine

Can you get hold of some Atari games or whatever they were called - you know, the really old fashioned Pac Man etc.

paolosgirl · 27/02/2009 21:01

I wonder where I could get one of those games...in fact, I remember the first ever game that you plugged into your TV - tennis, it was, with a little square on the screen that you moved back and forward. We thought we'd died and gone to heaven!

paolosgirl · 27/02/2009 21:20

Someone asked me today if I was going to serve 80's food - I hadn't thought of doing that, but I'm definitely going to now. Thanks

paolosgirl · 27/02/2009 21:29

Don't care - my birthday, not yours. It's the 80's, therefore I am celebrating the naffness that was.

I'd LOVE to have or go to an 80s party!

In fact it's my friend's 40th this year, might suggest it to her.

After all it will be easy to find an outfit just need to go to New Look!

Drinks - Babycham, Soda Stream, Snakebite and black, Merrydown cider, Campari and soda.

Food - Vesta curries, Crispy Pancakes, prawn cocktails, arctic roll, Smash (hmm, maybe not at a party...)

kalo12 · 27/02/2009 21:47

and macenroe head bands

I went to Claires Accessories (sp?) today, and am now the proud owner of a pair of black leggings, a big wide black belt, fluorescent pink fingerless gloves, fluorescent pink earrings and a big multi coloured bead necklace. I'm going to look ace
