Am doing an arts/crafts/detective party for dd's 5th-what can I get them to find?

There will be 7 dc's (an uneven no., I know, bad for teams) and am going to get them to decorate some biscuits and have their faces painted, then send them out in to the garden to detect, then back in for pass the parcel, then back out again to detect once more, then a bit of apple bobbing or something, back out for a final round, and then food, eat your decorated bics as they will be dry, and home.

What can I get them to find? Was thinking of it being a little toy each time, so whoever is holding the magnifying glass that time gets the toy so everyone gets one, but that is going to cause fights isn't it? The set up is: one has the (cardboard and plastic) magnifying glass, another has the (picture) clues, and another has something else (not sure what yet), although with the team of 4 not sure whether to break it into two teams of 2.

Have thought about making it a bit of an easter hunt, with 1st round being fluffy chickens, 2nd round being eggs and 3rd round being toy rabbits or something? 1 for each player?

We have a huge, safe, glorious garden (looked after by college, not me ) so I really want to use it to it's utmost as the house is so tiny, but the 1st March = foul weather, so maybe under brollies? If it is 10 mins at a time it should be ok.

What a great idea! Do you have an adult to go round with each group because if so I don't think there'll be fights. If not, I think you may struggle with one of them not trying to race ahead etc.

The other option would be they find something like colour balls, and they have to run back and put them in a bucket/ box asap. When the box is full, they've won a prize. This will burn off more energy too? Then one of them could hold the box and 'tell you' when it's full...

Next time could be a different colour ball/ plastic eggs etc.

Or you could do a scavenger hunt- find something pink. find something beginning with l etc. When they've all finished they win a prize?

HTH! Have FUN!!!!
