PJ themed party for 3--5 year olds - activity ideas?

I'm hosting a PJ/Bedtime themed party for eight 3-5 year olds. We are having it one morning over March break (Canadian speak for half term) It isn't for a birthday - I just thought it would be a fun way to pass one of the mornings of March break since all the playschools and toddler groups are closed......so does anyone have any ideas for crafts/activities so far the plan is:

  • Kids are dress-up in pj's and bring along teddies etc.
  • Decorate some Star and Moon shaped biscuits
  • Play pass the parcel for "bedtime stories" presents
  • Play Sleeping Statues
  • Read a bedtime themed story.

The plan just seems a little boring at the moment - can anyway add something a little different?

Pin the teddy on the bed?

I mean a picture of a teddy to a picture of a bed.

Otherwise would just be disturbing

They will not care if the games are bedtime themed or not!

Tail on the donkey
Musical statues
Decorating party bags/plates for tea/making hats
Colouring
Pass the Parcel
Charades

I like the decorating biscuit idea...other than that how about hunt the something or other or a small treasure hunt around the house where you leave clues etc?

Alternatively how about playing grown up and doing grown up things - could be a great way to get the ironing done? LOL

The only problem is we had two birthday parties in January (same kids, same place) so I just wanted to change it up a bit as much for the mums as the kids! But you are probably right the activities don't need to be all bedtime themed.

Like the ironing idea...and we could extend it to include cleaning the floor, dusting - oh the list is endless in this house!

I think your original plan sounds absolutely fine for that age group!
We did similar at preschool but with 3 different sotrytellers and with a drink and snakc, 1.5hours hours flew by. Add in your games and the cookie decorating and it's spot on.
