I have bought them for my friends children but they didn't reaaly do anything but I dont think they looked after them properly though

I think they would be cool

We had triops when ds1 was small (much more exciting than sea monkeys). All died but one in the end, but he got to be about an inch long and was great to watch sifting the sand. I really liked it (oh, and so did ds )

devils spawn

The only one who seemed to like them in our house was dh. In the end they all seemed to eat each other untill we had one big mf triop floating around.

However if she likes the idea of growing something vile looking then this is definitely the way to go

Thank you. She does like the idea of growing something creepy looking and I like the idea of her having something she can look after and watch (we will ignore the rabbit, 4 rats and 2 dogs that live in our house lol).

Never heard of Triops, but we had sea monkeys for ages and they were fab. At first dh was very sceptical, but when they hatched and started swimming about and then having babies he got sucked in (as it were!). DD loved them. We were very sad when we moved and had to give them to a friend. Thanks for reminding me, I'm going to get some more.

One thing though, make sure they are in a really sunny place or they won't hatch or thrive. Probably better to wait until spring to start them.

We preferred the triops, ended up with a huge one called Jaws, fascinating creatures.

singyswife · 11/02/2009 14:25

Where did you get them???

I'm with Troutpout on this one!!

Was horrible watching them eat each other.

DS loved them when he was about 5 and still talks about them. It was interesting seeing them grow and shed their skins etc, and DS says it was interesting watching them et upsid down.

They lasted a couple of months, I think.

Available from Amazon.
