DD just asked me, in 6 yo innocence, to find her a Chinese outfit by Thursday, cos she's been told she has to look Chinese for their celebrations. I could spend serious money - but I don't want to for a dress she'll probably only wear once, so I'm after ideas for how I can fake it ! Please, please - all you wonderfully inventive people out there - HELP!!

look for a pair of chinese style pyjamas? could then be worn as pjs after the evening?

Cor - quick answer! You done this before? Yes, might work, though I don't know if I've got time to hit the shops tomorrow or not. At least then I wouldn't feel like I was wasting money!

Don't forget a bun in her hair, with chopsticks crossed through it!

There are chinese style girls pyjamas in Primark at £4, they are gorgeous. We had a chinese evening in our house on Saturday night. My daughter wore her PJs, then I put her hair up in a bun, and painted her face like a geisha/oriental girl. She looked fab.

Wonderful! DH takes her to Beavers though, not me - but I'll see if I can get her hair to stay in a bun all day tomorrow and slip out to Primark this lunchtime. Thanks for all your help!
