They do them cheap on Ebay. if you need it asap, M&S is about a tenner for what is ostensibly a boy's one, but DD wore it to a pirate party and didn't feel 'boy'ish, iyswim.

Failing that, go to Primark and buy a pair of their £2.50 black jersey trousers. Cut them off below the knees in `//////\ shapes. Wear with plain white knee length socks or black ankle socks, black plimsolls (£2-odd in most cheapy shoe places or black trainers if you have them already)

Black or stripy t-shirt on top if you've got one, waistcoat if you can beg/steal/borrow/buy one, hankie/bandana on head (about £1 in our local market), eyeliner moustache/scars. Tie a gold or silver-coloured bangle to a loop of cotton and hang it over her ear for a big pirate earring.

Or if she insists on being a 'girl' pirate, find a black rara-type skirt and team with stripey tights.

janeite · 23/01/2009 21:24

Don't buy one!

All she needs is jeans, black combats or leggings with PE pumps, a stripey T-shirt and a bandana.

Or google new romantics for "prettier" pirate-type wear.

Frilly/silky white or black blouse from somewhere cheap, in the smallest size they do, might 'girl pirate' the cut offs & stripey tights combo a bit?

Clary · 23/01/2009 21:32

wot fruitbeard said.

Oovavu · 23/01/2009 21:33

I did what fruitbeard did for dd1 who was 6 at the time. Went to H&M and bought black rara and white off the shoulder white blousey-looking top and b&w stripey leggings. She wore a bandana on her head and an eyepatch. All the stuff we bought from H&M were worn many times afterwards as normal clothes.

thanks for all the ideas, will get myself down to primark or H&M tomorrow, also gonna try pound shop to see if they have anything. I'm quite annoyed as they had them reduced at Asda after halloween and she refused to let me buy her one grrrr.
