is it because you live overseas so for you it is not new years eve at all but perhaps new years day or it is still morning?

Or prehaps you are on your own with no babysitter? Or you choose not to celebrate ?

I'll kick off.I'm at home with virus whch has plagued me for 5 days now......all friends at local restuarant having party. Strangely enough it doesn't bother me half as much as it should though!

I'm 34 weeks pregnant, dp is out at work and 6 month old ds is in bed. I'm about to eat a big bag of giant chocolate buttons in front of rubbish tv then get into bed with my book and hope to be asllep long before midnight

stillenacht · 31/12/2008 21:42

My DS2 has autism and so we can't go out as a family cos of his routine (would mean he would be very very upset therefore not worth the aggro)My only babysitters (my parents) are out - always go out NYE.

Am not fussed tho. Never really liked going out on NYE - too bloody cold!

littleboyblue · 31/12/2008 21:43

16 month ds. I couldn't be 34 weeks pg with a 6 month old could I?

Tommy · 31/12/2008 21:44

no baby sitters.

normally DH and I have lots of wine and nice food but I'm not feeling well so I'm off to bed in a minute anyway

lisalisa · 31/12/2008 21:44

Sorry to hear that stillenacht - one of my close friends has a child with autism ( althogh quite high functiong) and i'm always amazed - and saddened at how much her and her dh go through in quiet and without anyone else knowing.

littleboyblue - the choccie buttons sound good.....

I'm at home with a 25cl bottle of white wine, and the remains of my chocolate brownie ice cream.........

No babysitter, and no-one to go out with tonight anyhow.

No babysitters either

We are having some nice food and a bottle of champagne but between the 2 of us we won't be blitzed

MintChocAddict · 31/12/2008 21:45

Can't be arsed!

whitenoise · 31/12/2008 21:46

well first of all why should i?

today should be my babies 2nd birthday but my body decided that it didn't want to be pregnant after all so i m/c instead. And i can't get over that no matter how hard i try.

This time of year always brings back memories of things that have happened to me as it all used to escalate at this time of year

servalanempressoftheuniverse · 31/12/2008 21:47

no mates. lol

stillenacht · 31/12/2008 21:48

where can I start no babysitters, 3 children under 5, breastfeeding my 10 week old, no friends in local area and I haven;t been out for new year for about 5 years - prefer to spend it with dh and Jools!

littleboyblue · 31/12/2008 21:50

whitenoise I'm so sorry, if my first pregnancy had gone full term my 1st child would have been 5 today. It also took me along time to get over it but I still take some time every new year to think of what could have been. There's nothing wrong with that at all. I hope it gets easier for you.

wrinklytum · 31/12/2008 21:55

DP in hospital,no babysitters.Don't like leaving dd anyway as she has sn.

Sorry you are feeling down Whitenoise,I am sorry about your m/c hope 2009 brings you all you wish for x

ranting · 31/12/2008 21:56

Probably because I'm old and knackered, dispite having a built in babysitter thanks to 9 year age gap, I just can't be bothered.

Would I rather be in pub alongside lagered up lads/ladettes or would I rather be at home with a bottle a beer and the company of my family and a Jools boogie woogie piano routine. Tough choice

used2bthin · 31/12/2008 21:57

I am in bed already! Not staying up for new year I am tired and hurt my back and no babysitters anyway. XP has assumed its my turn again on that I think as he didn't mention it (funny how we share christmas with DD but NYE it is just assumed I will have her!)

DD has been ill so we missed our boxing day family party due to being in hospital christmas night so my aunt did another one at tea time today. So we have been out at least. DD is too young to understand but I am hoping next year she may be a bit better at staying up so I can take her to a friends or something like that.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/12/2008 22:00

Because DC's sleep patterns up shit creek since they have been ill and wasn't fair on my parents who had offered to have them

coppertop · 31/12/2008 22:00

No babysitters but tbh I prefer staying at home anyway. No crowds and no queuing up to get a drink.

FrannyandZooey · 31/12/2008 22:00

i don't like new year
plus with young children we find easiest to go out as a family rather than burn midnight oil
(ie we can't be arsed with babysitters and are knackered anyway )

BBBee · 31/12/2008 22:02

um, i think i like doing it with my children now they are big enough to 'get it' even though they will fall asleep.

i never enjoyed the forced merriment of new year anyway.

IllegallyBrunette · 31/12/2008 22:02

On my own with no babysitter, but no one to go out with anyway.

I hate nye and am doing well so far, haven't cried once yet.

h0ney · 31/12/2008 22:03

Cause I am far too hung over from yesterdays celebrations.

MerryChatkins · 31/12/2008 22:07

Because I haven't been out on NYE since we had dd1 6 years ago, and I truly don't miss it a bit ! I would quite enjoy a house party if one of my friends decided to have one one year, but none of them ahve big enough houses !
