New Years Eve Fireworks in London

Could anyone possibly suggest a tried and tested alternative viewing point for these (as opposed to centre of town, or my living room ). It would need to be somewhere we could head to from the centre during the evening (so going against the flow I guess!)

Not sure we fancy braving the crowds in the centre.

Hi, not sure if i am on the right track, but last year we walked along the thames from london bridge and had a lovly view of the fireworks, it wasn't overly packed out and the entertainment was great on the southbank, the pub on the southbank was a great atmosphere, with outdoor patio heaters in abundance in the front, (actually managed to get a good table overlookin the river, good luck and happy new year

ooh, thank you, that's useful, perhaps we should brave going down to the river after all. I thought maybe we would have to go to Primrose Hill or somewhere. Can you remember at all what time you got down there?
