That's princess Leia in the white frock - not the bikini.

lou33 · 26/10/2008 16:16

corpse bride?

zombie?

S1ur · 26/10/2008 16:18

Sarah Jane though - that would basically mean bunches etc... I don't think I want to compete on the whole looking like a school girl with, well, schoolgirls.

Leia - maaaaaybe...... But I'd have to actually buy something for that.

What about classic, stylish type looks like Audrey? except of course not her, because my colourings are ALL wrong for that.
Someone blonde then, hmm. film character? or maybe book character?

Can you go a bit Mamma Mia, and do the sparkly blue eyeshadow, crocheted skull cap, blonde wig and platform boots Abba look?

S1ur · 26/10/2008 16:19

Lou, I don't think there is any halloween connection - though of course that shouldn't stop me gothing it up.

Actually corpse bride is pretty good. Easy to put together and dh can be johnny depp in a nice suit.

alice in wonderland?

Lilymaid · 26/10/2008 16:27

HOlly Golightly - LBD, pearls, sunspecs - far more classy than costumes.

S1ur · 26/10/2008 16:28

look you can buy costumes but holy moly $200.

hahaha Noooooo 18 y.o b'day sis is going as

'Alice in wonderland, with a slutty edge' (her words)

OP posts:
S1ur · 26/10/2008 16:30

yes, Lily I thought that would be good, all smokey eyes and long gloves, updo etc. Have light hair though.. so hmmm, do you think I could still do it?

I like thought of something a bit more classic then sexy as such - because as I imagine that all costumes will be 'whatever - with a slutty edge'

I saw someone in a Mary Poppins costume once - looked good.

S1ur · 26/10/2008 16:32

Friend of mine went to a hollywood themed fancy dress as Bette Davies in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane - complete with vodka bottle in her candlewick dressing gown - and stole the show from all the glamorous willowy girls around her

childrenofthecornsilk · 26/10/2008 16:39

Bums it won't load on this clapped out PC. Will have to kick ds off my laptop and see it later.

Bette Davis sounds fab!

mawbroon · 26/10/2008 16:53

I have just bought a hooded cloak from a fancy dress shop for a party we are going to. I reckon it can be trundled out for every fancy dress occasion forever more but in a different guise each time.

On this occasion, I am whitening my face and have got some vampire teeth and fake blood.

It means that I can do fancy dress with minimum effort , I can just wear the cloak over normal clothes.

Would that work for you?

S1ur · 26/10/2008 17:13

ooooh good point I have a cloak

Go as Miss Jean Brodie and whip them into shape.

pointygravedogger · 26/10/2008 18:48

go as mrs trunchbull

har har

lou33 · 26/10/2008 19:14

go as cruella de ville

pointygravedogger · 26/10/2008 19:40

I was going to say Edith Piaf but as you're fake blonde...

patsy from abfab

S1ur · 26/10/2008 21:12

Yes Miss Jean Brodie is a good idea, I could be all fierce, although that could be lost on this crowd.

Cruella - yes, does anyone have a spare fur coat they can lend me? or a lurvely suit?

Now Patsy. Hmmmm yes. Patsy would be very good for me since chances are I will look like her by the end of the night anyway, drunk and hitting on teenage boys.

Actually maybe I should be avoiding that image

good point, we have a local place which is excellent and have used in past. I should at least check there, if only for inspiration even if I don't hire anything

OP posts:
lou33 · 26/10/2008 21:34

cruella

S1ur · 26/10/2008 21:56

ooh ta Lou, if I did that I could coordinate the dc to be dalmatians

Actually that's a thought, perhaps I should think about the rest of family...

have one dd (4) and one ds (2) and a dh (36)

now if I go as mortica I could easily go with Wednesday etc,

or if film/music/book character could pick similar era for them.

Damn not sure where Patsy would fit into that.... then I think I'd just have to dress them in unrelated attire.

OP posts:
pointygravedogger · 26/10/2008 21:59

addams family would be good - Mr A is delectable. Wednesday is a seriously cool girl. The 2 yr old prob wouldn't mind if he was Pudsey or Uncle Fester.

(was is pudsey?)
