What can I buy for my 11yo DD's Birthday that doesn't involve HSM or making her look like a 15yo?

Clothes are tricky as she wants to choose
She wants make up I don't

Lots of people are buying her books
She has a keyboard & a guitar
She isn't that fussed about her DS

I am so struggling to think of something

Horse riding day out

Adopt an animal she's interested in

A nice piece of age appropriate jewellery

A nice vanity case filled with smellies rather than make-up

...tis tricky at her age

Just adding thread to watch list as my DD is 11 in 2 weeks and I'm struggling too!

How about some printed music/chord charts for her to play? I believe these days you can buy copies of modern popular/rock music that the young folk will like, not just Ralph McTell's "Streets of London"

What about pretty bedroom things?
I always wanted a larva lamp (still haven't got one though!)

Is she arty at all? How about a huge blank canvas and some paints so she can make some modern art for her bedroom?

Or an IOU for a day out shopping with you so she can choose the clothes herself? Just make sure the small print says "only valid in shops with sales"

my daughter was 14 recently i know it is older BUT we bought loads of stuff for her newly decorated room

we got
a. a freecycled rocking chair and painted it white
b. curtains and a pole
c.picture
d. stickers that spelled out words
e. new duvet cover
f. new through and cushions
g. 3 cheapo vases from ikea and a flower in each

THEN on the day ( yes it was hell but then i have a newborn to make the job nice and hard!) I 'dressed' the room a la 50 minute makeover whilst she was at school

It was a great success and actually it NEEDED doing so was a benefit to us both!

stickers were sort of' wall art'

Hi Thanks for all these suggestions

I'm still not convinced about her present - but I am thinking about some of these

Manuscript, days out, theatre & maybe adopting an animal (not all of these btw)

I appreciate all your help - even if I haven't decided & sorry I was so long replying - I sloped off to make myself a sausage baguette with fried onions.......Hmmm happy now
