weather is awful - bouncy castle etc rained off - please help with party games for dd aged 4

dd aged 4 is having a birthday party at home on Tuesday - 10 s for a fairy party.

Bouncy castle is booked and fairy treasure hunt round garden all planned but weather forecast is now for heavy rain all day.

I'm racking my brains for alternative indoor plans - mind is blank, can't find party games book and all I can think of is pass-the-parcel and musical bumps.

Please help with suggestions - I'm really wishing I had booked a play centre now!

A bubble machine (£5 sainsburys) a disco lamp (£9 woolworths) and a pop CD. They can play musical bumps, musical statues and just have a disco.

Buy gingerbread men or giant cookies for decoration.

Buy beads and thread to make bracelets and necklaces.

Put gingerbread men and beaded things into their party bags to take home.

Decorate a plant pot or tshirt - requires a bit more investment.

Print off fairy pictures from internet - sure there must be some sort of flower fairy site and get them to colour in or decorate.

Decorate your own fairy wand - go to a craft shop and just outlay dosh.

I've only got boys so don't really do fairies....but if it is a star wars party you want....I rock!!

Flip the kipper. It is a race. Cut out some fish shapes from paper and have each child decorate one. Make a fold in each lengthways then unfold it just so there is a bit of a gap between the fish and the floor. Give each child a newspaper and have them bang the floor in front of their fish with it. The kipper should flip up and along a bit. They keep on banging till they get to the finish line. You can do it in heats olympic stylie if there are lots of children....

Thank you - am off to hobbycraft tomorrow. Making bracelets sounds great if they stock large enough beads for 4y olds to cope with.

Ds just had his party and had planned indoor games only becuase the weather has been so rubbish.

The first game requires a pack of snap cards. Split the pack, attach sweets or small prizes to the back of half the cards and hide them then get the children to choose from the other half and they have to go and find its partner and get the treat!

I hid them in really obvious places and still took a while for ds and his friends to find them, was great fun and they were so excited when they realise there was a gold coin attached!!!

They also did plate painting. Bought the kits from Tesco for under £2 but they need to be cooked for half an hour and, in my tiny, prehistoric oven, they were only just done in time for them to take home.

For their tea, they made their own pizzas which filled in another 15 minutes and sorted out their food!

Not sure if these activities are suitable for 4 yr olds but if you have lots of helpers should be fine!!

What about "pin the princess on the fairy castle"?

If you only have 10 you can do some fairy craft - cut out crowns or tiaras and they can decorate them (glitter, felt tips, stickers very popular).

Stick crown on the fairy (ie tail on donkey modified).

flap a fairy's wings - cut out wings and hit floor with rolled up paper - in teams of 3 or 4, works surpsingly well even at this age.

Fairy colouring in with lots of felt tips and gel pens

Ah I see many of my ideas are already suggested! Proves they're good then.

Try this site - loads of party games

You can make ice cream cones - is at least a half hour and kept all little ones amused at a play group.

You need
a ball you get in play pits
a triangle of brown paper
tissue paper
stickers
glue
wire mesh
brown crayons

You put the triangle of paper over the mesh and rub the crayon - gives the same pattern as a waffle. Then stick in a cone shape. Get ball and stick tissue over then glue to the cone and then stick on stickers and glitter - they loved it.

or

hobbycraft do small canvasses - paints, things to stick on and they take home thier masterpiece.
