I gotthis from tesco yesterday for £7.49. Worth popping in if you have one near you. My dd is 9 so sadly can't remember all the likes at that age!

Simple stationery items - gel/glitter/felt tip pens, note book, stickers, stampers, coloured paper etc.

Ikea has a set of double-ended chunky felt pens and a wodge of coloured paper for a good price.

My dd is 7 and still goes crazy for those things!

Agree with the stationery suggestion. I recently bought my niece some personalised stationery with "From Elizabeth" printed in one corner and a ballerina in the other. She LOVES it! I think it came from Letterbox.

Paint-it-yourself teaset or similar (we've given two as presents, one from Tesco, one from The Range). They seem to have been well received.

Art/craft stuff is always a winner imo. Or those decorate a box/bag type things you can get in ELC. I think they are about 7 pounds?

onepieceoflollipop · 08/07/2008 21:30

Yes definitely stationery.

Or a good quality card making kit. (the type that has everything in the box in case the parents/helpers haven't got extra bits). ELC do this type of stuff in your price range.

Or if you know the parents well, ask. In the past I have asked and got lovely t-shirts, vests etc with popular characters (Dora etc) which were really appreciated by the child, and useful as well.

Hair bobbles/clips in a pretty bag?
