Thats its really.
We went to the beach, she jumped waves for the first time (with me holding her very tightly!). She was completely naked as it going through the 'i dont want to wear clothes or nappies' stage, and it was beautiful, her covered in sand, giggling her head off, screaming 'jump mummy' as waves came in!

She even tried to walk off with the body board, just pulled the wrist rope, wandered off to the water going 's'go'!

She threw herself into sand holes dug, and people just commented constantly at how happy she was on the beach. she is an outdoor baby, and the threat or rain did nothing to upset her!

She spend all day going 'wow' at everything, saying 'birday, Bella birday' all day!

She went to bed after watching 'chilly ban'! (chitty citty bang bang', straight to sleep, not a peep.

Sorry to go on, I could go on more!

She is sooo lovely, DH and I have reminisced this evening about her arrival, and I cant imagine not ever feeling this happy and proud of having such an amazing little girl.

Sounds really wonderful. Who says you have to spend lots of money to have a good birthday! Money can't buy memories like that

lucky you - i used to live by seaside and miss it madly - are you north or south coast? sounds like your dd had a fabulous time - hope you got loads of lovely photos !its a great age

Pavlovthecat · 01/07/2008 23:49

PipsQueak - we are in Devon, we went to Bigbury on Sea.

We had a a bit of car trouble - battery died and had to wait for AA to come out to start it for us, DD went for a nap and we had our lunch indoors instead of on the beach! So we did not get there until 3:45pm (we are in Plymouth, half hour away, esp when stuck behind a tourist driving at 15mph!) and it rained just before we left, but it was very humid and the water was lovely (i went out in my kayak for a bit too, in a wetsuit shortie), we stayed until 6pm, and just before we left it started to chuck it down! But DD did not even notice, why would she?! It is England after all! Got chips in Brixton on the way home and she stayed up until 9pm without trashing the house!

She was born 1 minute and two years ago!!!

sounds lovely - i dont know bigbury on sea . i used to live near barnstaple so know the north coast better . you can start planning her 3 rd birthday now

harpomarx · 01/07/2008 23:58

aah, we went to Bigbury last year, had a fantastic day too. I remember wading through the water at low tide and seeing fish. And those brilliant rocks for climbing on. And then we had a drink at the Pilchard and just made it back before high tide.

lucky you living near that gorgeous beach!

Pavlovthecat · 02/07/2008 00:01

DH used to live in Barnstaple ! I have been there couple times, well near there once, the town once!

Bigbury is near, erm...Kingsbridge way? you know that? Its before that...

[[http://cache.virtualtourist.com/1660650-Travel_Picture-Postcard_of_Burgh_Island_England .jpg we were to the left of the picture, tide was in a bit more...a lot bit less sun!

What a fab day, and what a lovely little girl.
Am loving "chilly ban".

Pavlovthecat · 02/07/2008 00:03

harpo - you shoulda waited for high tide...got to go on the tractor that takes people back and forth!!! Its lots of fun, especially if the water is choppy (although they dont always go if its too bad!)

its a great beach for kids, as there is always lots of sand, and if the the tide is out all the way, the sand goes on for MILES!
