Kids 5th Birthday Party - Snacks?

Having DD1’s first birthday party next weekend.

It’s 2pm-4pm, so I was just going to get crisps / sweet treats / snack table type stuff, rather than sandwiches / pizza / full on catering.

It’s mainly kids from school, who she’s only just made friends with since starting a couple of months ago, so I don’t know them really or really know their parents.

I was planning to get treats that I know DD1 likes - however, now overthinking in terms of dietary requirements / allergies? No one has mentioned any significant allergies when RSVPing, but equally I haven’t asked anyone!

Whats the etiquette here?

Is there a group chat? Just post and say ‘let me know if any allergies’. Failing that pom bears and skittles contain none of usual allergens like gluten, dairy or nuts so get some of those and no one will be left out.

No group chat! Pom bears are a good shout, thank you.

I would send a reminder about the party a couple of days before and ask people to let you know of any allergies then.

It could be a good way to set up a group chat?

Generally people keep the food to one side until half way through the party when they stop for food and cake. It’s good to have water/squash available throughout

For most of the parties I have been to over the years the parent usually sets up a group a few days before to a) remind people about the party, give directions etc and b) ask for any dietary restrictions/allergies. The groups are then used to share photos and general thanks for coming etc afterwards.

You should also have a fruit bowl of "easy" fruits like apples, bananas, sultanas etc to keep the "oh my child doesn't eat unhealthy food" parents placated.
