When is best to give flowers at my daughter’s graduation?

I’m attending my daughter’s graduation next week 100 miles away. Hotel all booked etc. At her brothers graduation last year she saw female students receiving flowers from well wishers and I know she’s love some but I m not sure when to give them to her, any suggestions?

Would she definitely want some? I've only heard about this this year as the new trendy thing to do. But surely they all just die in the heat before you can get them in any water and are a pain to carry round.

Why not get her some for when she comes home?

I think it’s a silly thing. At our son’s graduation last year we saw several girls with big bunches of flowers. What are they supposed to do with them? My son’s cohort went straight from ceremony to college reception to meal with parents to partying. A bunch of half-dead-by-then flowers would likely be abandoned somewhere.

I sent DD a bouquet from M and S to her flat the day before. She loved them and was glad not to have to be carrying them around all day and evening.

Day before is a lovely idea. Or you could do a corsage on the day?

I bought my daughter a bouquet at her request. It was a day where tbh she could have what she wanted! I dropped them off with her friend who was attending the overflow viewing area and she got them after the ceremony. They made for some beautiful photos and they made her happy. I took them home with me and she enjoyed them for a further week.

We gave our dd hers in the quad after the ceremony so she could get photos with them. This was 2 years ago - it has been a thing at her uni for a long time I think due to the number of international students who brought the tradition with them. She went to a friend’s flat to change before dinner with us so left them there and got them afterwards. The uni had a room to drop bags, coats and flowers during the ceremony.
She didn’t get flowers for her master’s graduation as it was winter and there were not the same opportunities for photos. Instead I got her some for when she came home.

We bought some for our dd's graduation as she was keen and given it's a day celebrating their achievement, why not? Her friends (who weren't graduating that day) looked after them during the ceremony then brought them to the bit afterwards when everyone is milling around and there are lots of photographs.

We didn't do them, I don't get the point, the majority of bouquets we saw this week looked rubbish with cellophane round them.

We travelled up on the train and stayed a couple of nights, but none of us would have wanted to hoik them round all day and then home on the train with suit bags, luggage, etc, especially in this heat! Waste of money!

Dd had flowers at her graduation 2 years ago. She had lots of photos with the flowers before and after graduation ceremony, so I think you need to give them to her when she gets her gown. 🥰

our hotel when we are all having breakfast together.
