40th Birthday celebrations dilemma!

So it’s my husband’s 40th birthday coming up on 11th August.
We have 2 girls aged 4 and away to turn 2 in July.
Need your help -
We are off on holiday from 1st of August until 20th of August, and obviously the kids are not at school yet. Our Oldest starts school on the 19th August.
We don’t have anything booked for his birthday yet as our youngest has been in and out of hospital with a kidney problem called hydronephrosis and hopefully come June everything will be fixed with her.

  1. Do the 4 of us plus his parents go to Majorca for 10 nights from the 4th - 14th of August? Then have a couples getaway at a later date maybe October somewhere?
  2. Do my partner and I go away to Majorca for 5 nights child free from the 5th - 10th of August and come home to spend his birthday with the kids and his parents at home and spend the rest of the time off with the kids before our oldest starts school? Then go to Turkey with the family for 10 nights in October?
  3. Do my partner and I go away to Majorca for 5 nights child free from the 9th - 14th August but obviously be away over his birthday and not see the family till we get home which will be 3 days after his actual birthday then spend the rest of the time off with the kids before our oldest starts school? Then go to Turkey with the family for 10 nights in October?

Major dilemma and really need peoples opinions!

I'd maybe go for option one depending on how well do you both get on with his parents and what the accommodation arrangements would be like. Also, how old are his parents? Are they sprites? The reason I ask is because maybe they could watch the kids for a couple of nights so you and DH get to be child free for a while, but are still generally together.

How does DH feel about the options?

Sorry should have said , the family holiday was the original plan but we are struggling to find somewhere for all of us that isn’t extortionate in price as it’s peak holiday season then.
So both granny’s have said they could take the kids a combined 5 nights between them if we want to go away ourselves, he thinks this offer is too good to refuse as we never get babysitters for more than 1 night!
But he feels like he’d miss being with the kids if we went away over my birthday , but he also thinks coming home for my birthday after 5 nights away might be a bit of a comedown!
