Twin Birthday Party Etiquette

My 8 year old has been invited to a birthday of a relatively new friend, the boy is a twin and as such the party is for both. Twin A is in his class and they have recently starting to play a bit, however as it is a big school Twin B has never been in his class and they don't hang out. As it's a relativity new friendship we haven't done a playdate yet so he's not been ‘forced’ for want of a better word with Twin B in that setting.

So my question is, is it expected we buy a gift for Twin B who we don't know, do we buy a joint present or is it ok to buy one gift for Twin A who invited him?

I guess I'm asking because like everyone money is a bit tight at the moment.

I couldn't leave a kid out on their birthday. Knowing that they are twins i wouls get a little something for the other.

Oh dilemma. I am a twin so remember these. If the invitation says it is from one twin, buy for that one twin. If the invitation is from both, buy a small gift for both. I still remember my 5th birthday party - a trip to a zoo. We were allowed to take one friend each and I was very jealous of the gift my sister got given by her friend. So they obviously did separate presents!

I have twins and often threw big joint parties for them but made it clear separate gifts weren’t expected.

Loads of people bought them something each, some people a joint gift (which they never minded) and some just for the child they were friends with. It’s honestly fine - they will still get tons of gifts and if the kids are very young it’s quite overwhelming. When mine were 5 ish we had a big party and I had to give them a few presents to open per day as there were so many I didn’t want it to become totally meaningless to them.
