Need a foolproof 25cm chocolate cake recipe!

I need to make a 25cm chocolate cake to feed about 25. It can be 2 or 3 tiers and needs to be pretty solid as I'm decorating it with toppers and want four year old kids to be able to eat it fairly easily! I would really appreciate any tips and links to recipes

My go to is the Mary Berry Death by Chocolate. Dead easy, shove it all in a bowl and beat.

Plus it tends to be best the next day so good to make in advance. I guess you might want to make double the mix to have a taller cake to feed 25.

Do you mean tiers or do you mean layers?

Chocolate cake is quite often fudgy and moist and that means soft. 10" cakes are also harder to cook evenly.

I did a five layer sponge cake recently to a recipe similar to this but vanilla instead of chocolate. It stayed up just fine with the uses of cake dowels.

Apologies, layers! I don't fancy constructing tiers with dowels
