What did you do for your 40th birthday?

it’s mine this year and wondered what others have done.

Haven't had mine yet but witnessed a few! No two have been alike tbh, would say it's a really personal thing.

Examples so far....

• a small dinner in a lovely restaurant with best friends
• a rave in an old garage with 100 people and a cracking dj!
• spa weekend with besties
• spa weekend with mum and siblings
• visit to bounce below in north wales and climbing snowdon
• a girls trip to Ibiza (for the boho, chilled side of the island, not the raving)
• a girls trip to Ibiza (clubs and parties)
• a murder mystery in a posh rented house
• a weekend away with scavenger hunts and challenges
• a weekend away in a big bnb with a huge hot tub for walking and country pubs
• gorge walking
• camping weekend with friends and all their kids/spouses/dogs etc
• pub crawl
• weekend away with just their family and their besties
• a charity skydive
• rented a stretch tent and some decks for a festival style afternoon/evening where different friends acted as dj's for 40 minute sets throughout the night
• a wedding esque party with canapes, speeches, cocktails and cracking live band followed by a dj
• Trip to Vegas with whoever would like to come

Was it always a big deal to celebrate birthdays ending in a zero? I don't remember my mum doing anything in particular, we showered her with gifts and pressies but that's about it really. I was pretty young though. She might have done something with her mates and I just didn't clock it.

I think that might be the full list so far...genuinely they've all been so different!

Have genuinely no idea what I'll end up doing. It's coming up though, should probably start thinking!

67 now.. l went to Dublin for my 40th with an ex.. loved it.. didn't like the ex lol.
Wish I'd gone with Friends or my daughters..

I was very spoilt for my 40th! I had met my boyfriend (dh) at 38 and had no idea what he had planned which included a suite at Claridges and my parents and kids waiting to surprise me at dinner. Sadly I was so ill with gastric flu I have no idea how I got down. The next day we left for a couple of days at George Sanc in Paris (with me still ill!)

Having left an abusive relationship with my kids’ dad, it felt surreal.

I did something fun/I wanted to do every month of my 40th year. Concerts at wembley, theatre trips/West end shows, a city break, a holiday. It was a fantastic year & great to have so many things to look forward to.
