This is the first time I have ever done a party myself. We have hired the village hall which is vast so plenty of space. Should have 16 children, mainly boys.

Its vaguely a 'knights' party theme.

So far I have:-

  • Find the other half of the christmas cards
  • Pin the tail on the dragon
  • PAss the parcel
  • Hunt the knight/power ranger/thimble
  • Musical Corners
  • A race involving walking with a balloon between legs

and some colouring if needed

I think I need some more 'active' type games

I was going to do the fan the paper fish with a newspaper race but as I failed miserably to fan the paper fish across the kitchen floor this evening I have scrapped it from the list.

I do have a vast quantity of ball bit balls in the loft if I could think of something to do with them

All suggestions gratefully received!

I planned loads of games for ds1's party.

they wouldn't play them.

I promised them prizes, I promised them sweets, but all they wanted to do was run around and shout.

An easy impromptu game is the Bean Game.

You shout out the names of the beans and they have to do the right action. Anyone who gets it wrong gets a sticker and becomes a judge. The beans are
Jumping Bean - jumps up and down
Runner Bean - running around
Baked bean - lay on the floor sunbathing.
French Bean - wave your hand in the air and shout Ooooh la la.
Chilli Beans - Shiver and act cold.

There are more but I can't remember them now.

I like the idea of the bean game, especially as DS was trying to explain a game they had played in PE the other day which was to do with different types of beans so with a bit of luck it will be familiar to some of them.
