Dh would love a party but I know it will be a lot of hassle to organise and it'll be mostly me doing it (bc I'll want it done my way LOL). I think I've talked him out of it and I'm now thinking what to do as an alternative. It's in early August which is a PITA for travelling to lots of the places we love for a nice break as it'll be roasting hot. Our favourite places are anywhere in Italy, Spain or France but think it'll be teeming with tourists and too hot. We're already going to Canada in October so we've got a longer haul holiday sorted.

Is there anywhere shorter haul suitable for a long weekend/5 days in August that won't be crowded and boiling hot? Or shall we just go to London and then have a meal with the family?

I'd be tempted to go symbolically to the Cote d'Argent in France - surely the Atlantic coast would be less hot than the south?

But a London trip out sounds fabulous tbh. Isn't there somewhere called the Silver Vaults which you can visit?

PermanentTemporary · 02/03/2025 17:07

Yes there is! It's just a group of shops to buy silver but it looks like fun -

If the places you like will be too warm in August how about going to Rija and visiting the Silver Museum?

Do you like wine? You could do a sparkling wine tour in Sussex.

What about going to Paris and then a few days in the champagne region? It's only 45 mins by train from Paris. It's a trip I'd love to do!

That sounds very nice. I'd enjoy that myself Wink

Lunch / dinner at Le Manoir and then stay over in a local pub?

BobLobla · 02/03/2025 21:56

All of the above! Thanks for the lovely suggestions x
