Who finds children's parties soul-destroying?

The noise, the relentnessness, the waste, the MESS.... We only had 6 guests and had it at home (DD's 8th) but it was still pretty horrendous.

We thought we'd save on wastage by asking them what sandwiches they wanted rather than plonking platefuls down - orders duly taken and delivered - plates abandoned at the end with sandwiches with ONE FECKING BITE taken out of them. Ditto slices of pizza. Some of them had piled up cheese and ham on their plates making it unusable but still without eating it.

but that's exactly what i don't like - meaningless chit chat - would rather be ini pub

How is meaningless chat in a pub any differnet to meaningless chat with mate in a park?

Oviously absence of alcholo; excused.

because usually it's not your real maes and there's no alcohol - topic of conversation is kids..boring

I mean I talk about the same sort of things with my mate in the park as I would of an evening.

Random annoying strangers, yeah that does my head in. Not them, just bored sometimes with the the chittty chatty pointlessness

i'm lucky my actual mates had children around the same time as me so we often meet at park and our dcs are forced to play together by proximity. We chat about anything.

you are very lucky - all mine moved away and i work full tiem ad I miss them!
