Hello, i have never been great at organising my own birthday but i want this to change!
Last year i invited about 7-8 female friends to the pub one evening iand it was ok but not great - mainly because i have different groups of friends and there was a bit of mismatch!

This year to keep the costs down, im thinking of inviting a few friends at home but im a bit sruck!
What is the "done" thing?

I dont want a sit down dinner but then i dont want people to stand awkwardly around. I wonder if i need an activity of sort ? Also my sitting room is nice but my dining room is very cold... like as a family wed rather eat in our small kitchen hen than in this cold dining room.. how can i make it more welcoming? And how many people is the right number? And do i invite partners or not?
So much indecision (and anxiety!!!)
Thank you for any tips/advice/ideas
