Christening stress

Hi everyone! I'm in need of your wisdom 😅

I'm trying to figure out baby's christening. Myself and my husband moved to Somerset in January for his job so we don't really know anyone here, and as our families/friends live six hours away each it'll only be close family attending so very small numbers. Do I still have a christening reception afterwards?

It seems like a bit of a waste to hire somewhere and go to such expense when there won't be many people, but I'd also feel bad for people travelling all this way and not organising anything.

Can anyone offer advice or words of wisdom?

TIA!

Just have people back to yours. That's what we did. Put on some buffet food and a few drinks. Didn't require much organisation and no hiring anywhere or anything.

A Christening /baptism is a religious service in a church. When you leave the church it's finished.
If you want to do something afterwards for the people who attended, that's fine, but it's not compulsory.
