What to do for DD birthday?

My DD joined the school last spring so we never had a birthday party with a whole class. She is now in Y2 and had been to few parties where the whole class was invited but I also know that some smaller celebrations have taken place (she was not invited). I’m torn between the choice of organising a hall party for the whole class (30 kids) and a small home party at home with just few close friends from her old school and couple classmates from new school. I guess I m concerned that if we don’t throw a big thing this year, she won’t be really accepted to the class and we won’t get a chance to meet and get to know all the parents. On the other hand, it’s quite costly and time consuming to organise for whole class. What would you do?

In your situation, I would do a whole class party. Just this year. You'll be inviting all the kids so she can bon (not all will come). Also, you'll get to meet the parents. Parents need to put themselves out there, hard as it is for some, i know. But it really is the way to get to know people.
