.. Just that really, did you throw one and if so was it a big one or little gathering etc? I know bubba still young but I thought might be nice to mark the occasion.

Yep. Had 1st birthday parties for both of ours.
DS1 was at home, with family and friends, there were about 10 children aged between 1-6. I’ll be honest, it put me off parties at home completely. My house was trashed and everyone stayed way longer than they were supposed to - I literally had to tell them it was time to go. Didn’t go mad, like some of the things you see though. Standard birthday buffet. Cake bought from the supermarket. A few balloons.
DS2 1st birthday, was essentially the same but we hired a hall and a bouncy castle and soft play stuff. Much better. Fixed start and end. Had the party far enough away from home that no one wanted to ‘pop round’ after the party. And no mess at my house. Pretty much the same people came, but there were a few more kids!
It was very important to me that DS2 had a 1st birthday party purely because DS1 had one.

I should say. The parties were literally us, our kids, our parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, close friends and their children.

Thank you, did any one do any themes? Or just a little party

We didn't do a party. We just went to TGI Friday's for dinner with my brother and sister-in-law and had a cake.

I did a boss baby theme for my DS. It was at home. A few other babies in our neighbourhood that we are friends with and a couple of his nursery (I invited everyone but only 3 accepted) and aunts and uncle and nephews. It was lovely.

Parties at that age are about us, not them. For us was family and few close friends, like most years until they knew what was happening and of course lots of happy photos. Some like to do all the balloons and banners etc but a one year won't know and all they want to do is post on SM they have celebrated it, which anyone would do anyway, well guess that's just the sign of the times.

You do whatever is best is for you but don't feel pressure to do go overboard just for the sake of it. Xx
