I am lazy and stupid but would love to have an "under the sea" themed birthday party for my dd and 18(!!!) friends. Any suggestions/links for:

a)party games
b)easy mermaid/fish type cake

would be gratefully received. Please keep it simple - I need something I can finish before the valium wearts off...

I made an aquarium cake for DS2 last year - really easy - just iced a plain round cake with blue icing and put green liquorice bootlaces round the sides for weed and plastic fish on the top (I got them from ELC)
We also used the party pieces stuff and did "Pin the tail on the whale" (drew my own whale)

wot about the fishing magnets game

you have a box

fishing lines with string and magnets on end of string

fish in box with magnets on {obviously opposite magnetic force}

And go fishing

You need some blue and green crepe paper cut into strips to hang over the door frames too, to add a magical entrance to the room too!

I had an under the sea party for DD1's fourth last year. Dh made a cake and iced it with a fondant Nemo. We decorated the walls with a fishy mural out of a roll of wallpaper, draped blue and green crepe paper aound the place and blue and green balloons. When she came down in the morning her first words were ' Its a magical underwater world" - how easily pleased is she?!

We played 'pin the tail on the whale' (I printed cartoon picture of whale and lots of tails from internet) and made 'fish hats' - two huge cardboard fish decorated with sparkles and glitter and stapled together to make a hat. And I went to an old fashioned sweet shop in our town and bought lots of fish shaped sweets!

Thanks all - particularly loving the fish hats - brilliant!
