Nut free vegan party food

Yep, DS has invited his two best friends for a Birthday gaming afternoon etc and one has a nut allergy while the other is vegan. I am supposed to be feeding them their evening meal.

I have done a bit of research and found that most vegan pizza cheese has nuts in, so that’s a non-starter. So far I have the following on a possible list:

pasta (But with what sauce? Cheese or pesto is out).
fruit and marshmallow kebabs
veg sticks and hummus (but need to check about sesame seed intolerance)
puffed up pea crisps

Garlic bread
Pasta and tomato sauce
Quorn (or similar ) nuggets
Rice cakes :)

Pasta with tomato sauce (tin chopped tomatoes/ Passata, onion, garlic, dash of balsamic vinegar, spoon of tomato purée), whiz down in blender. Easy peasy. Can add a tin of lentils / sautéed med veg / peas if you think they'll go for that

My son has nut allergies (peanut walnut and pecan) and dairy and egg allergies. Vegan pesto is fine, as he is fine with cashew nuts - could you check which nuts the friend is allergic to as it's unlikely to be all of them? That would free up more options. Otherwise there are lots of vegan pizza which don't have any nuts - or you could make your own.
Vegan sausages or fish fingers and chips and peas/sweetcorn is another meal option.

Tomato and Mediterranean vegetable sauce with pasta. Home made (if not check ingredients carefully, supermarket bakery bread is not nut free) garlic bread.

Alternatively make vegetable tarts, no cheese.

There are a lot more vegan options at the supermarket these days on the chilled shelves and in the freezer cabinets. Hummus is easy to make at home - chick peas, lemon juice, garlic and olive oil. It doesn't have to have tahnini in it.

It is easy enough to find vegan crisps. You just need to read the back of the packet to make sure they don't contain any whey.

I have a vegan nut allergic relative so I know about reading labels very carefully.

As a pp said, most marshmallows are not vegan.

Pasta primavera, it's pasta with a selection of cooked green vegetables stirred through, eg peas, slices of courgette, sliced green beans, broccoli florets.

Vegan cottage pie, made with puy lentils, diced vegetables and mash either potato or sweet potato. Vast quantities can made cheaply, so good for feeding hungry teenagers.

Vegetable paella.

Mixed bean and tomato casserole with vegan sausages.

Vegan Falafel, with appropriate wraps/pitta bread and homemade dips such as avocado, spicy tomato, haricot vert.

For pudding I'd do a large platter of fruits, figs, grapes, cherries etc.

lots of useful info here thank you. I usually steer around non-meat meat products as then the non-veggies in the group don’t usually like them. DS needs to enjoy it too. Maybe they have got better?

DS thought the allergy was peanuts but I texted the Mum and she said ‚nuts‘.

Home made chips and popcorn cater to most dietary requirements. Oreos are vegan and nut free, and you can get vegetarian Haribo. Ice lollies like calippos are good.

Also, tortilla chips (salted not cheesy) and salsa. You could always just do burgers, and cook a plant based burger in a separate small pan or on a separate oven tray for the vegan child.

M&S have just brought out vegan 'cheese' straws. I haven't checked the ingredients but the info should be online.(They also do vegan marshmallows)

I think ritz crackers are OK too.
Houmous and veg or bread sticks
Pasta with tomato sauce
Potato skins/fries/savoury wedges
Tortilla chips and salsa
Lots of crisps
Quorn or Linda McCartney sausages

Vegan burritos: veg chilli, rice, guacamole, tomato salsa

Baked potato with baked beans or veg chilli

Chick pea and spinach curry with rice and dhal

Soup and crusty bread with salad (soup: lentil or veg or tomato)

Noodles and stir fry veg

Potato wedges / sweet potato wedges . dips: tomato / quacamole etc

Nut free bean burger in roll with wedges and salad.

You can get vegan marshmallows.

You've said that "most vegan pizza contains nuts.
I'm not sure which you've been looking at, but if you're thinking of take away, Dominoes doesn't. If you're more thinking about frozen pizza, Dr Oetker's vegan mozzarella one doesn't, nor does Chicago Town's jackfruit one.
Most of the vegan cheese on pizzas tend to be coconut based. I'm not sure of any that are nut based.
All that being said, I'd do a vegan lasagne. Bechamel is easily veganised (normal recipe with vegan butter and soya milk) and either vegan mince or vegetable-based. Bit of garlic bread with it and you're done. (Most of the supermarket mega cheap garlic baguettes are accidentally vegan and nut-free).
