DD would like a fancy dress party for her birthday (in March). Any kind of fancy dress so her friends can come as superheroes, policemen or anything.

However, she also loves monkeys so we thought we'd go for a monkey theme. Any ideas for monkey games, decorations, cakes etc?

Pin the tail on the monkey.
monkey statues (they all have to dance like monkeys then when the music stops stand still)
You could decorate your room like a jungle.
Not very good at this am i?

slight pain in arse/time consuming but fun.

Buy safety pins in advance. Hoard old tights in advance or buy from charity shop.

Cut out BIG monkey hands from card, with fingernails drawn in advance

Get them each to paint two. With 'nail polish' colours for finger nails if they're enjoying it.

Dry on radiator while you do other stuff.

Get DP or alternatively an actually Useful Person to pin to cut off tight legs while you continue to do other stuff..

Get same person to pin tight legs to shoulders (not actual shoulders, but the clothing)with safety pins

Have monkey arm swinging competition, either dancing or racing. prizes for best swinger/dancer/monkeynoisemaker.

Or something where you can't use real arms - eating chocolate chunks from a bowl for example.

Sounds crap but i PROMISE it's fun.

music from jungle book
lots of fruit for monkey snacks

You will prob find at that age the children don't want much formal entertaining and games etc.

I did a jungle party once - was great (much smaller thouh - ds was 2) One thing that worked really well and was easy and cheap was buying green crepe paper, cutting it so it was long streamers and then sticking it over door and book shelves etc. for a jungle effect. I also cut out big leaves from green paper and big flowers from bright yellow, red and blue paper and stuck them to the walls.

We like the jungle book That's a good idea. Crepe paper is nice and easy too!
