First Birthday Party - Any Ideas?

My DS will be 1 on New Years Eve and am really stuck on what to do. Likely to be 5 babies and 10-15 adults. Our place is just too small to do anything at home. Want to mark the occasion but don't want to spend a fortune. We are based in SW London. Any ideas?

IME one year olds don't have a clue what's going on and the first birthday party is more for the adults so ...

A couple of bottles of wine and a bit of food. The birthday cake with a candle and the song. Very very basic. Don't get expectations up of making it special for the one year old. He'll pick up on the general party atmosphere and enjoy the adults having a good time.

Perhaps a few baby songs and some nice dancey music?

New years eve' eh? That's quite a talking point for a birthday.

Thanks Spidermama - that makes me feel better. The couple of Mums I know are hiring places etc and I can't see how he will know what is going on. At least I can have a glass or two of wine this year .
