Is this even a thing... or is it CF-ery?

Friend1 wishes to book a venue for child's party in the summer and posts on social media the price for the deposit for this venue. Friend2 then says they are happy to contribute towards this deposit.

There was never said anything about wanting contributions.

Is it not a bit odd that someone would offer to pay?

Surely you shouldn't be organising something if you can't stump up the deposit?

Or is this a new level of CF?

Or maybe it's me being a bit out of touch....

Hmm

That is odd - but more odd of friend 2 isn’t it? Or do you suspect friend 1 has put them up to it?

Atalantea · 01/06/2021 14:17

Has friend 1 asked for money? If not, ignore

Optimist1 · 01/06/2021 14:19

Very strange, in my opinion, to expect guests to pay for party costs. I could be massively out of touch, though. But if it is a thing now, surely she should not just be giving the cost of the deposit, but the amount of the balance due (and the due date)?

Has she already issued invitations to this event?

ShiteningMcQueen · 01/06/2021 14:20

@Undersnatch it's odd of Friend2 unless - you're right - they were asked to do this to set a precedent for others.

@Atalantea I will be completely ignoring!

No public request at all for help, even indirectly, as far as I can see.

Wishful thinking cheeky fuckery 😂

ShiteningMcQueen · 01/06/2021 14:23

@Optimist1 agreed, if there was a request then it should have more details IMHO

No invite received, so I shall feign ignorance.

It's kind of an indirect CF, if indeed F2 was put up to it by F1.

And F2 is a mug for agreeing!

It's not a joint party is it?
Straw clutching

@Guiltypleasures001
Not as far as I can tell, but if it was then surely they would have their own private convo about it and not need to announce it publicly, surely.
