Have seen and been impressed by both these:
Crazy Hazy
Jelly Kelly

Thanks Chip - have left messages with both of them!

We are in Kingston and my son is having Mad Science party for his 6th birthday next month. They have a base in Teddington

Mad Science looks great but its a bit advanced for a 5 year old isnt it? Also, tagging onto this tread - do we really have to invite the whole class to a 5th party? Any more ideas re entertainment? and thank yoo

ah-ha!

When I saw this thread, I said to myself ... this MN'er needs ChippyMinton. And lo, when I clicked on it, the wonderful CM had been already and spread her wonderful wisdom.

let us know what you choose Binkle and how it was etc.

aznerak · 06/11/2007 15:54

Mad science do things from 3yrs up so should be fine for 5yrs +

Action Station is great for that age - interactive story-telling - probably our most successful party for ds (it was his 5th) - we had the Wizard/Goblin one.

Anchovy's used them too - I think she was happy with them as well.

winegumss · 06/11/2007 20:32

action station looks great, esp the story telling - nice to see something slightly different. thank you

Binkle · 07/11/2007 10:07

wow, have been away from pc for a few days....lots of very good input here, thanks for that, it's fantastic! Action station does sound brilliant, so will definitely follow that one up!!!

Yes, we have just had our second Action Station one - a great hit with assorted 5 and 6 year olds.

winegumss · 08/11/2007 11:48

gosh, you are up late anchovy! way past my bed time!! Which story did you choose? hope you dont mind me asking.

ELR · 08/11/2007 16:01

we went to a celebrity reptiles party which was fab if you dont mind insects and animals in your house

Anchovy · 08/11/2007 17:41

We had a witch last year for a birthday party at Halloween and a spaceman this year for a fabbo spacemen and aliens party.

(If you do go down the spaceman route let me know as my nanny had some brilliant ideas. Eg instead of a party bag everyone got a foam disc space gun from poundland, a few sherbert filled flying saucers and some space dust!).

Mooster · 08/11/2007 22:32

How was the spacemen and aliens party? That sounds great for my 5 year old to be. Would love to know more.

Anchovy · 09/11/2007 00:27

It was absolutely top banana. I've got to disappear for the weekend but if you want details next week, let me know.

I had an exttremely happy little spaceman (fantastiv fancy dress thing), his small sister was a space mermaid and his mates had a fantastic time.

We had "cheese and pineapple sputniks" - aka cheese and pineaplle on sticks in a foil covered potato. If you want to know I will post more next week!
