Halloween - trick or treat

Just wondered what people will think it will look like this year?? Will you take your children trick or treating? All be it with an adult you knocks on the doors with a stick?
Will you welcome trick or treaters? Will you throw the sweets at them ??!!
How will it work ??!!!

We are planning to have a little family party with spooky decorations, creepy smartshow 3d slides in the background, ghost cookies, and pumpkin something, so we probably will welcome trick or treaters and give them some sweets. But I'm not sure whether many kids will be allowed to go out in the first place. Who knows how the whole situation will look by then.

Sounds like an idea to give the DC a great in house party and just welcome ToT’ers. (Still not sure how to hand over the sweets though! Don’t want to knock anyone out!).
I can’t see end of October being any more relaxed than now .. (will be worse I expect!)

I desperately want to take my kids trick or treating, though not sure how close we will be able to get to houses. We have costumes but will properly go out and see, last year was our first year and dd1 loved it

We're not going this year. My kids are mixing in school, I don't want them and their germs on the doorsteps of our neighbours, no matter how gung ho the neighbours are about it, or pressing the same door bells and dipping hands in the same bowls as kids from other bubbles and schools. Neither will we be opening the door to others.

It's like wearing facemasks, it's for others not for yourselves. I like the pumpkin trail idea but there have been some idiots on FB saying if their 5 year old sees even a pic of a pumpkin in a window, they WILL be demanding knocking for sweets.

We have gone away the last three years for the midterm so didn't have trick or treating (well we did in the houses we stayed in but on a smaller scale). Thankfully daughter said she's not bothered this year, she's 10 so probably getting a little older. We live in a gated apartment complex and know all the neighbours well so we'll make up goody bags for the kids we know but thankfully wont have strangers knocking on the door.

As we are missing out on our holiday this year (there is usually a kids halloween party) and are at home just three of us, does anyone have any ideas how to make it special for our daughter? I am going to get pumpkins to carve and are going to make cupcakes and decorate them. What about games? Any fun game ideas for just three of us?

Halloween is one of DD's favourite times of the year, unfortunately I just can't see Trick or Treating happening this year. For the last few weeks I've been planting the seed with DD that trick or treating probably isn't going to be possible. We've said she can have 4 friends from her school bubble over (DH has willingly volunteered to go to the pub )and have a Halloween party. DD is made up with the idea of a party. Now I just need to think of some 'tricks' for them.

@Wiv0 ours seem to centre round food! We've made up a spooky tea and given everything labels. Draw pumpkin faces on satsumas, a bowl of jelly is pulverised brains, strawberry laces are blood vessels, tuna sandwiches can be mashed intestine sandwiches etc. Put food colouring in drinks, or Google a butterbeer recipe and dye it red as fermented blood or something.

For games, hang ring doughnuts from strings and they have to eat it with their hands behind their back. Apple bobbing. Monster bumps / monster statues to Halloween themed music.
