To have a party to sweeten the pill?

A fiend of mine is planning a party for her daughter who is 16 and who continues distance schooling this year and she had asked me to help. The general purpose is to make her DD feel a little bit happier as she hates distance classes but their school had decided to keep it that way for now. I'm really not sure what to suggest. Are there any ladies with their children hating on home schooling? Any ideas on how to brighten the mood?

Distance schooling is not the same as home Ed. I don’t know any home Ed families whose children are unhappy about being at home, the vast majority of them hated school.
So not sure you’ll get many suggestions in this section!

Yes, I think you might be better off posting on one of the main boards to get party ideas.

Few kids are being home educated against their will - if they didn't like it, they'd be at school. An exception is kids for whom the LA is failing to provide appropriate schooling for their special needs, some of whom would be happier in a suitable school.

Just an ordinary get together for her friends then. A barbecue or getting pizzas in so she can touch base with her friends.

Yeah, a simple get together will be fine. You can make decorations with paper school books or some other school stuff or autumn leaves, so that the party would have some autumn or study style. Probably a slideshow with her and her friends' photos from school will be cool, or some summer photos that she has. Last year I created a digital scrapbook with my niece's photos in Smartshow 3d and you can use it to make a video on the whole "Back to school" topic. But good old pizza and movies are still a way to go, so think about it, too. Plus the decorations.
