If you have DS that old.
My DS is 18 in a couple of weeks and has no idea of what he would like as a present or what he wants to do on the day.
He's not into drinking or clubbing. He's more of a geek who loves gaming. He's not got masses of friends but we are a close family and he has an older brother and a girlfriend.
Need ideas for something to do incl the brother and GF.
Need ideas for a gift - something he can remember he got for his 18th.
Help!

It's my DS's 18th tomorrow. He is majorly into computers and has asked for computer parts for his main present! He said if he has any birthday money he's going to put it towards a VR headset, so how about that?

He's requested pancakes for breakfast so we are setting up a 'pancake station' and he wants pizza for lunch.

DS wanted to do something fun, so we have organised a family olympics, complete with water games, custard pies, etc.

Birthday cake will be in the afternoon. We have made a Computer Server Cake complete with printed icing panel on one side and fondant icing screw drivers. Oh, and also a '2002' 18th Birthday themed quiz bought and download from Etsy.

We are putting on a 'Murder Mystery' party for the family in the evening. It's a complete kit bought off eBay - they sell several different genres and settings- and our is at in 1920's New York. We are all dressing up and bought costume bits from Party365 to fit the characters.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but if that's not suitable, it was my 50th 3 weeks ago and I had a Luau and disco for home with just the six of us.

We also did a 'Cocktails and Karaoke' party for my Mum's 75th earlier in lockdown. We had afternoon tea, too.

We made a big thing of decorating the rooms and every one has thoroughly enjoyed our lockdown parties.

Hope these ideas help!

Just remembered, my Mum has bought him an expensive electric shaver. The men in my family love watches, always a good idea. Or how about a leather bracelet? Or men's torque bangle? I've also got him a 'Vintage 2002' t shirt from Etsy and the usual bits to open, chocolate, smellies, etc.

How about a signet ring or a watch out an embossed wallet?

What’s your budget? I recently got my husband some Cartier cuff links for his 40th, they were just over £300. I think they’re pretty timeless and something he can use well into the future. I think for a big birthday like an 18th it doesn’t necessarily need to be something they can use immediately but something they can keep for life and eventually pass on to children can be just as significant.

I got a cheap runaround car! Is that an option?

I’m talking £800-900.

bought my son a £650 car and got it serviced and taxed for a year

Both of my stepsons got driving lessons for their 17th and cars for their 18th, so we'll probably do the same with our younger two when the time comes.
