I have found after doing abit of entertaining since we've lived here, that people will take whatever is available.
What I mean is, if there's no coffee, people can't drink it/won't want it.
I've certainly never had a coffee at acocktail party.
Must say mini fancy cakes /canape sized 'desserts' always go down well - and look fab
mini fruit kebes etc.
we used to have every yype of drink going and it would cost us a fortune,
then went to aparty where they were literally serving red or white wine (it was ared/white them mind) and nobody complained, we were all happy to be invited and drink what was there.
Not sure I've been any help, but I like talking about parrties!

I suppose it depends on whether it is a party with drinks and canapes before people go off to have dinner somewhere or whatever.
