Party bags that aren't full of tat?

Please can someone help me?

I'm looking for fillers for party bags for my daughter's ninth birthday. Really want to find stuff that isn't plastic and headed for landfill.

So far I've thought of seeds, maybe cress or something like that. But I'm stuck now! Would really appreciate some thoughts .

Seeds, a book, maybe some eco friendly lip salve (a friend of mine makes this and I saw some in a health food shop yesterday), origami paper, chocolates or sweets?

At that age I usually gave a paperback book (you can get some good deals from the Book People) and maybe a small chocolate item.

Wordsearch / crossword puzzle book
Sunflower seeds and a terracotta pot
Pencil
Bath bomb
Cupcake / brownie mix - in a bag with instructions

The last few years we've given home a slice of cake! At the party they'll have had (in our case I mean) food, games, an activity or craft. If they've made something they'll take it home eg bookmark, trinket box, friendship bracelet. If it's been an activity eg pony trekking then food afterwards and the cake home.

I think we just did sweets in a mug, or a mix of sweets and sweet popcorn in a bag at this age.

I'd also maybe go with just one nice thing rather than lots of bitty things. Flavoured lip balms were a huge hit when we made them for 8 year olds.

Also bath bombs, randomly - huge hit with boys as well as girls. My children now get them in their stockings every year.

If you do seeds then a little pot and a garden ornament (from pound shop), plus sweets of course, or do lip balm, bath bomb and a nail varnish ( buy a kiddie set of 10)...and sweets. Or just do sweet cones or a hot choc set.
