6yo birthday- day out or small party ideas wanted

I know it's ages away but DD turns 6 a couple of weeks before Christmas and I'm wondering what to do about her birthday this year.

Last year for her 5th birthday we hired a village hall, a children's entertainer etc and invited her whole Reception class plus children of relatives so 36 children in all. It was lovely but there's no way I'm doing it every year! Not only would it bankrupt me but it's a lot of hassle so close to Christmas. So this year we're hoping to do something smaller and more low key.

We were thinking a special day out rather than a party. We're happy to travel and stay overnight if needed but having looked at prices of theme parks, hotels etc I'm thinking it could end up being more £££ than a whole class party!

Any tips for a special day/night away for a 6yo birthday that we won't need to remortgage for or ideas for a smaller party (6-8 kids ideally) suitable for 5 and 6 year olds . I really don't want to do a party at home if I can help it.

what about pleasurewood hills family theme park? I don't know if it's anywhere near you but it has kids and family rides, and a soft play area. There are also sea lion and parrot shows x

Frozen 2 is coming out at the end of November, so you could take a bunch of children to see that.
6-8 children is the perfect number to hire a bowling lane for an hour or so, then go for food afterwards.

DD is Frozen obsessed! We had thought about cinema then taking them out for pizza or something but not sure how some kids/parents would feel about leaving them with us as all the parents seem to stay at parties we've been to.

There's no pizza hut near us but there is a Pizza Express. Just seen on their website they do parties for 11.95 per child which seems reasonable.

Lush cosmetics also do parties (they play games like throw the shower jelly etc). DD enjoyed the one she went to. link. some stores have a minimum amount of kids so you will need to check x

sleep DD would love that! The nearest Lush store is in a city about 35/40 mins drive away though, just thinking if it snows or its icy people might not feel comfortable driving that far?

could you drive (if you have a big enough car)? We were once in a similar situation on dd's bday as it is in november, and we took the girls on the bus. at that age they really enjoyed sitting at the top. it was pretty empty, so although we sat on the same level, they sat at the front and we at the back.

Could you do a smaller party. For example 6 close friends having a tea party at home? IN my experience these are the parties kids appreciate the most.

Pizza express also do parties where the kids go off to a separate room and make their own pizzas.
