"Red Carpet Night" - which film character?

DD1 needs to dress up as a film character for a Red Carpet Night fabcy dress thing in less than two weeks. She's 14 (and a touch self conscious) so it needs to be something "nice" rather than something "funny". She's not into films, so has zero inspiration. Any ideas? She has shoulder length dark hair and wears glasses if that helps!

What about Holly Golightly from breakfast at tiffany's or is that too old? Simple black dress and pearls!hth.

thanks browncat - I suggested that, but she's decided to go for Dumbo instead [puzzled parental face emoticon], so all i need to do is get soem grey tights, and make an elephant mask and ears - fortunately I can knock up animal face masks in my sleep, so not too much of a problem.

Sorry read thread again - I think Dumbo is a bad idea - unless all her friends are really going as cartoon characters - the teazing that could come from that...

we have no idea what anyone else will be - she's doing a two week residential course and doesn't know anyone yet, plus the instructions are to not tell anyone what you're being. They also said "James Bond for the unambitious and Shrek for the adventurous" so we're assuming there's some sort of prize for effort/imagination.

Something that she can dress down a bit if she feels it is OTT - Dumbo is an all or bust

apparently we're definately going for Dumbo - I mentioned teh MN reservations and the reply was "why would I be bothered about everyone else?", so I have offically birthed a freak . We've made a prototype facemask-with-nose and a hairband-with-ears-attached, both of which she's worn all evening. Real version to be created on Thursday once school finishes.
Am still at self confidence tho
